Planners ban sketches for building in MPThe Menlo Park planning commission has formally rejected landscaping and parking plans for the United States Geological Survey building in Linfield Oaks. A letter from the commission, signed by Chairman Charles Andrews, was read to the city council last night outlining the reasons the plans were disapproved. The planning commission, wrote Andrews, is sure a "much more satisfactory site plan" can be developed. He urged the Claude T. Linday Company, Linfield Oaks developers, to make further study of the site. Landscaping and the site layout should be in keeping with the spirit as well as the letter of the zoning law, he wrote. The new buildings--four are planned, to be used as the West Coast Geologic Center--should conform to the existing development, and be planned and landscaped to give a feeling of openness, said the chairman.
